Cotutelle

The doctorate can be organized in national cotutelle as well as in international cotutelle. The doctoral student in international cotutelle carries out his activity under the simultaneous guidance of a doctoral supervisor from Romania and a doctoral supervisor from another country, based on a written agreement between the organizing institutions involved.

The agreement stipulates the requirements for the organization and conduct of the doctorate in each of the two institutions, in accordance with the role it has in the cotutelle and with the specific legislation in each country.

In interdisciplinary scientific fields, the PhD in cotutelle can also be carried out under the guidance of two PhD supervisors from the country. In this case, the above provisions are adapted accordingly.

DOCTORATE IN INTERNATIONAL COTUTELLE

The request (type request), completed by the doctoral student, approved by the doctoral supervisor, with the report of the doctoral school secretariat attached and the agreement of the doctoral supervisor from the partner institution (the agreement can also be sent by e-mail), is registered at The General Registry of the University of Bucharest and forward to the International Relations Directorate and the Doctorate Office. If there is a framework agreement between the University of Bucharest and the partner institution, its provisions will be respected by the cotutelle agreement regarding the doctoral student.

The International Relations Department will check whether the request meets the legal conditions regarding international agreements.

The Doctorate Office will check whether the request meets the legal requirements from an academic point of view.

The International Relations Department in collaboration with the partner institution will draw up the cotutelle agreement.

The International Relations Department in collaboration with the partner institution ensures the signing of the agreement by all parties involved.

As soon as the international cotutelle agreement contains all the signatures, the International Relations Department sends a copy of the agreement to the doctoral school secretariat and a scanned form of it to the Doctoral Office as soon as possible.

The doctoral school will record in the matriculation register that the doctoral student is pursuing doctoral university studies under international cotutelle, specifying the institution and the doctoral supervisor.

Any change in the conduct of doctoral university studies under international cotutelle of the doctoral student will lead to the drawing up of additional documents. A copy of these additional documents will be sent as soon as possible to the doctoral school secretariat and a scanned form of it to the Doctorate Office.
